About this event
- 5 hours
Enjoy dinner and water activities, such as kayaking and paddleboards, and yard games and biking at The Cannery at Blackwater, rain or shine, from 3 - 8:00 p.m. The scenic venue is located on the Little Blackwater River in the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. Stay all day or drop in when it's convenient for you.
A catered Farm Credit meal will be served from 5 - 7 p.m.
You'll enjoy access to all of the Cannery's recreational rental equipment to enjoy the great outdoors. Take a leisurely paddle on one of the single or double kayaks, try out a stand-up paddleboard, or take a stroll on the water in one of the paddleboats. If the water is not your calling, you can explore the refuge wildlife drive on one of the comfortable bikes, or take a hike through one of the nearby walking trails.
The Cannery also offers waterfront view swinging on the hammock, rope swing, or sitting around the firepit in our rocking chairs. Kids can enjoy catching minnows in the pond (nets included!) or playing with beach toys on our sandy beach. There are various ride-on toys, jump ropes, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, football, wiffle ball, giant connect 4, and corn hole boards.

Immediate family members and their children/grandchildren involved with the Farm Credit loan or service.
While doing any outdoor activities, it's possible you could be exposed to biting or stinging insects such as mosquitoes. However, we do not typically encounter any biting flies or mosquitoes while paddling on the water. Bring bug repellent for "land activities" - biking and hiking.
You could get wet while doing any water related activity! People sensitive to sun exposure should apply sunscreen with an appropriate SPF or wear active-wear long sleeved shirts and pants. The Cannery suggests hats and sunglasses to help with the glare from the sun.
Cannery staff will be available to help with water and biking activities. All equipment and safety gear will be provided.
For water activities-wear shoes you don't mind getting wet or go barefoot! Biking requires snug fitting, closed toe shoes.
Children under 18 must be supervised by an adult but are permitted to be in their own vessel. The age at which a child can properly and safely handle a kayak or SUP by themselves varies with the physical limitations unique to each child, therefore it is up to the parent to decide.
Farm Credit Days are rain or shine. Our meal area is under cover.
